This is where the hustle and bustle of the Atlantic Seaboard is situated. With anything and everything from coffee shops, restaurants, gyms, yoga/pilates studios and spas, to trendy boutique clothing stores. You are sure to find anything here to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable, and to connect with the right people in terms of business and leisure.
The area is predominantly filled with trendy apartment blocks, rather than freestanding homes. There is a blend of young and older people, as well as families that live in this suburb. There are plenty of parks and play areas for children if you don’t mind taking the children out to play, as garden space is limited in most of the apartment blocks. Parking is mostly off street parking with many blocks not having parking space or garages available.
Something to keep in mind is that unless you stay in a home or apartment that is not road facing, Sea Point can become very noisy, with cars, local transport and nightlife constantly buzzing. If you are looking for a quiet space in terms of work, this may not be the area for you, unless you are situated off the main road.
The ever popular promenade is within a few minutes’ walk from your desired rental space. Here, people from near and far go for a stroll, bike ride or skate in between meetings, after work and on weekends. There are a number of beaches that run parallel to the prom, with the favourite of many locals and internationals, known as Saunders Rock Beach. Located slightly to the left of Sea Point, at the beginning of Bantry Bay, this is an absolute treasure to visit when in the area. Perfect for long hours of sunbathing or a dinner picnic on the rocks, as Saunders shows off with some of the most spectacular sunsets!
All located on Main Road (also known as Regent Road), The Point Mall has a large Checkers for everyday grocery and toiletries shopping, ATMs and Dischem/Clicks pharmacies, to name a few. Home to the absolute cardio burner SWEAT1000 classes, BUC fitness club is a world class fitness club also located on the top floor. Piazza da Luz which is a few hundred metres up the road from Point Mall, boasts with the ever favourite SPAR which has incredibly fresh food and baked goods daily, and a wide range of imported sweets and treats. Woolworths is another local regular grocery shop with high quality goods.
Sea Point is generally safe to walk around during the day and early evenings. However be on the lookout for pick pocketing. As this is a very busy and touristy area please also ensure to keep all eyes on your children at all times. Especially on the main roads, beaches and promenade.
There are a number of schools in the area, including Sea Point Montessori and The Cape Town French School also known as the François Le Vaillant French international school.
Are you the type of character who enjoys being where things are hip and happening? Where locals, tourists and celebrities are up at the crack of dawn to go for their morning run on the promenade, followed by a good coffee on Main Road. A laid back atmosphere, yet a constant buzz of people, music and restaurants. Sea Point is loved by most but just know that peak season can become a bit overwhelming. The beauty of the Atlantic Ocean and its breathtaking sunsets makes it worth every penny.
