There is a blend of a fast paced yet easy feel to the lifestyle in this area. And of course let’s not forget to mention that Greenpoint is home to the stylish Cape Town Stadium, which hosts numerous sport and concert events. As well as the oldest operating lighthouse in the country, the Greenpoint Lighthouse, designed by the German architect, Herman Shutte. This is a great location in terms of work and leisure, as it is very central and a perfect meet-up spot for like minded business people. It can be a little noisy on the main road so bare that in mind when booking your workation home!
Grocery shops and public transport all within walking distance. The promenade is a mere 10-15 minute walk away. The Greenpoint Park with breathtaking views of its biodiversity garden, lovely play area for children and beautiful tea garden, is also just a stone’s throw away. This is a safe family friendly space where you can spend hours walking, relaxing or having a picnic.
Green Point is not considered to be very safe unfortunately. During the day many people walk around, but do be aware of your surroundings and your belongings, and keep your children with you at all times. Do not walk around the area at night as there are plenty of homeless people roaming around in the neighbourhood that does pose a safety issue.
Greenpoint Montessori and the well reputed Reddam College are both in the area. Also nearby, is Camps Bay, Pre and Primary School as well as Camps Bay High School.
This suburb is the typical “Yuppy” (young upcoming professional) neighbourhood! It’s cool, it’s trendy and it is perfectly located between the CBD and Sea Point.
